My name is Brian Swartzfager. I've been developing web applications using ColdFusion, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML for over 10 years.  Most of that times was spent as a solo developer in the Division of of Information Technology at the University of Maryland, College Park.  At the end of September 2013, I started my current position as a senior developer for FirstComp, an insurance company that relies heavily on the web and web applications to support its business model, working as a member of large and very skilled development team.  When I'm not working, I enjoy playing racquetball, basketball, and Ultimate Frisbee, reading novels and playing video games, and working on new programming ideas.

My wife, Deanna, works as a veterinary technician at Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital and is taking online college courses that complement her work.  We live in Bowie, MD (located between Washington, D.C. and Annapolis) with our greyhounds, Wren and Mia.

My main purpose in keeping this blog is to share some of the tools and techniques I`ve developed as part of my work with other web application developers (especially ColdFusion developers), share any information resources I come across, and to express my thoughts about things that affect the developer community.

Most of the content I post on this blog relates to web or mobile application development.  I tend to talk about other subject matters in other venues, usually on Google Plus or Twitter.
